About Michael Graham

Michael Graham lives in Winston-Salem, North Carolina with his wife, daughter, a Sheltie, who would be shocked to discover that she is a dog and several hundred characters and creatures which spring from a fertile imagination to create all manner of mischief, havoc and mayhem. After working as a graphic artist for ten years, the jump was made to full time illustration during the summer of 2005.

Michael has drawn since he could wrap his fingers around a crayon. The Disney films, the creations of Hanna-Barberra and the myriad Looney Tunes characters were a huge inspiration. Having a father who is a fine artist was a tremendous influence and role model in Michael's artistic development. The artwork of Frank Frazetta and J. R. R. Tolkien's Lord Of The Rings spawned the desire to follow in the footsteps of other visionaries.

After graduating from Wake Forest University with a degree in physics, Michael journeyed into corporate America. It did not satisfy the need to create. In the Fall of 1993 he decided it was time to acquire the necessary computer skills to compete as a graphic artist. It was at this time Michael experienced Adobe Photoshop's magic and realized the computer's full creative potential. The majority of his color work is now done digitally. All sketches and preliminary work begin with pencil on tracing paper. The sketches are scanned into the computer where a variety of Macintosh softwares and a Wacom tablet are used to complete the paintings.
